Chopin Society announces season, co-sponsors special concert with Schubert Club

The Frederic Chopin Society has announced its 38th season of piano concerts at Macalester College – featuring four solo recitals with internationally acclaimed artists, beginning Jan. 23 with Leeds Competition winner Eric Lu. The other performers in the Chopin season are Kate Liu (Feb. 27), Rafał Blechacz (March 27) and Zlata Chochieva (May 8).

The Chopin Society is also partnering with the Schubert Club on a special pre-season concert Sept. 12 at the Ordway Concert Hall with 22-year-old Minnesota pianist Evren Ozel playing an all-Chopin recital shortly before he leaves to compete at the XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. Schubert Club is handling the tickets for this event at schubert.org.

All of the Chopin Society’s concerts are at 3 p.m. Sundays in Mairs Concert Hall at Macalester College’s Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center, 130 Macalester St., St. Paul.
