3-year-old boy critical after being shot in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis police say a 3-year-old boy was in critical condition Friday after he was shot inside a home in North Minneapolis.

Police spokesman John Elder said other people were in the house at the time of the Friday morning shooting, but details on what led up to the shooting were still being investigated and were not immediately available. Elder said police arrived to find the boy with a “very serious gunshot wound.”

There were no immediate arrests.

Several children have been killed or injured in shootings in Minneapolis in recent months.

On July 9, a 3-year-old boy was shot and critically wounded in north Minneapolis.

On May 17, 6-year-old Aniya Allen was shot while riding in her mother’s car after the two had left a McDonald’s. She died two days later.

On May 15, Trinity Ottoson-Smith, 9, was shot in the head while jumping on a trampoline. She died 12 days later.

And on April 30, 10-year-old Ladavionne Garrett Jr. was shot and injured while riding in a vehicle, and eating from a can of Pringle’s potato chips. He continues to fight for his life, the Star Tribune reported.
