2 jet skis collide on Lake Minnetonka, killing a juvenile operator

A juvenile was killed Wednesday afternoon in a jet ski crash on Lake Minnetonka, officials say.

Water patrol deputies of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office responded about 5:45 p.m. to the East Upper Lake of Lake Minnetonka, where two jet skis had collided, according to a news release issued by the sheriff’s office.

Boaters had pulled the unresponsive juvenile out of the water and were performing CPR when deputies arrived, the news release said.

Deputies took over resuscitation efforts and brought the juvenile to water patrol headquarters, where an ambulance was waiting, but the juvenile was pronounced dead.

Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, the news release said.

The Hennepin County medical examiner will identify the victim.
