High school roundup: Top-ranked Stillwater rallies past Roseville in baseball

Brayden Hellum knocked in two runs on a two-out base hit in the top of the eighth inning as top-ranked Stillwater beat Roseville 6-4 in their Suburban East Conference baseball game Tuesday.

Roseville (7-8) scored the first three runs of the game before Stillwater (11-3) would come roaring back in the middle and late innings.

Myles Schwerzler is credited with the win, pitching the final two innings. He allowed no runs and no hits.

The win halted a two-game losing skid for the Ponies.

St. Paul Academy 13, Trinity 0: St. Paul Academy exploded for 11 runs in the fourth inning, leading to a victory over Trinity (4-7).

Mile Waltenbaugh hit a bases-clearing triple in the fourth and Levi Mellin finished 1-3 with two RBIs and a walk. Mellin also pitched five scoreless innings to get the win for SPA (8-6).

Other scores: Central beat Highland Park 5-2; Henry Sibley beat South St. Paul 5-4; Centennial beat Spring Lake Park 7-1;

Softball
North St. Paul 5, Mahtomedi 4: The Polars scored three runs in the top of the sixth to beat Mahtomedi.

Madison Kubik went 3-3 with a double and two RBIs while her teammate Madelyn Anthony went 2-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for North St. Paul (10-4).

Anthony is also credited with the win, pitching a complete game allowing four earned runs and striking out seven Mahtomedi (8-6) batters.

Henry Sibley 11, Hill-Murray 4: Bella Ramos and Ella Bannie each went 2-2 at the plate as the Sibley offense finished with 10 hits in a victory over Hill-Murray.

Greta Odden is credited with the win for Sibley, moving them to 8-6 on the season. Hill-Murray falls to 3-8.

Other scores: Hastings beat Simley 13-3; Tartan beat South St. Paul 9-5; Centennial beat Spring Lake Park 11-7.

Boys golf
Led by a pair of two-over-par 37s from Noah Schmidt and Jacob Wilson, Mahtomedi topped Tartan by 15 shots at the Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo. Schmidt and Wilson tied for medalist honors.

Hastings bested Simley by just two shots in a Metro East matchup at Inver Wood Golf Course in Inver Grove Heights. Hastings’ Ryan Swanson shot the low round of the day, a 1-under-par 35.

St. Paul Academy beat Blake by a shot in a match at Somerset Country Club. Blake’s Ian Frederickson and Kyle Kerney finished as co-medalists with a 1-over-par 37.

Girls golf: Hastings beat Henry Sibley at Emerald Greens in Hastings. Hastings’ Ahlyn Endres finished with the low round, a 7-over-par 43.

Girls lacrosse: Apple Valley/Burnsville beat Eastview 12-8; Rosemount beat Eagan 21-4.

Boys lacrosse: Burnsville beat Eastview 8-7, Prior Lake beat Farmington 16-6.
