Father’s Day is an annual celebration in many countries around the world that takes a day to praise dads and be thankful for the important father figures in our lives who inspire and support us.
We’ve been celebrating fathers for centuries and an annual day set aside for the celebration of fatherhood in Catholic Europe can be traced back as far as 1508 – although it is possible that a day honouring fatherhood specifically could have begun even earlier than that
The date of Father’s Day changes every year because it is always held on the third Sunday of June, so this is when the date falls in 2021.
When is Father’s Day 2021?
Father’s Day in 2021 falls on Sunday, June 20.
This date falls just one day before the UK is set to hit its final date in the government’s roadmap map for easing lockdown and lifting restrictions.
However, people in the UK should still be able to see and celebrate with their father figures on this date.
With household mixing and overnight stays allowed in England from May 17, this should enable many families and loved ones who have been separated since last year to finally travel and reunite.
Unlike Mother’s Day, which is celebrated on a different date, Father’s Day falls on the same day in the US and Canada as it does in the United Kingdom.
