A store clerk was fatally shot during an apparent armed robbery Tuesday night in Minneapolis’ Cedar-Riverside neighborhood, according to police.
Police said that officers were called to the store in the 400 block of Cedar Avenue after a 7 p.m. report of an armed robbery. They found a man, believed to be in his 40s, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The man, identified by police as a clerk in the store, was treated at the scene and taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died soon after arrival.
Police said it appeared that a male had entered the store and attempted to rob it. He fled the scene in a car after the shooting.
The investigation was continuing late Tuesday and no arrests were immediately reported.
The victim will be officially identified by the Hennepin County medical examiner’s office, police said.
