Minneapolis pair charged in Twin Cities carjackings

A man and a woman from Minneapolis have been charged with a series of Twin Cities carjackings between August and December 2020.

Jeremiah Lee Ironrope, 24, faces four federal counts of carjacking and one count of using a firearm in a crime of violence, while Krisanne Marie Benjamin, 25, faces three federal counts of carjacking, according to a news release issued Monday by the office of acting U.S. Attorney W. Anders Folk.

Ironrope made his initial appearance in U.S. District Court on Monday, while Benjamin made her initial appearance on March 25.

The string of carjackings began in July 2020, when Ironrope and Benjamin stole a 2008 Lexus ES350, the news release said. The following month, the pair stole a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe and a 2017 Audi A4, brandishing a sawed off 12-gauge shotgun during the latter theft, according to the news release.

In December 2020, Ironrope carjacked a 2015 GMC Terrain on his own, the news release said.
