High school roundup: Roseville edges Woodbury in girls hockey

Kylie Wiltse scored the game-winning goal with five minutes left in the third period to give the Roseville girls hockey team a 3-2 victory over Woodbury on Tuesday.

The game was the regular season finale for both teams. Woodbury (6-14) finished eighth in the conference, while Roseville finished fourth (11-5-1).

Neither team scored in the first period before the floodgates opened in the second period as four goals were scored in just over eight minutes. Ruby Eskin and Kylie Jones scored the goals for Roseville. Isabel Burt and Nicole Stickels scored for Woodbury.

Apple Valley 4 / Lakeville North 2: Makalya Moran scored two goals and tallied an assist to lead Apple Valley to a victory over Lakeville North in the Section 3AA quarterfinals.

Goaltender Macy Mueller also played a pivotal role for the Eagles, stopping 31 shots.

Apple Valley will face top-seeded Burnsville in the section semifinals.

Rosemount 4 / Eagan 2: Rosemount scored three unanswered goals within the game’s first nine minutes, including a pair by Whitney Tuttle, and went on to beat Eagan in the Section 3AA quarterfinals.

Rosemount will face second-seeded Eastview in the section semifinals.

Hill-Murray 6 / White Bear Lake 0: Chloe Boreen netted a hat trick as Hill-Murray took care of business in the Section 4AA quarterfinals. Boreen now has 18 goals in 16 games this season.

Despite the lopsided score, White Bear Lake outshot Hill-Murray 48-12, but goaltender Grace Zhan stopped every shot.

Hill-Murray will face Roseville in the section semifinals.

Irondale 7 / Minnehaha Academy 3:- Sam Mancino and John Ballot scored two goals each to lift Irondale over Minnehaha Academy in the Section 4AA play-in game. Irondale will now play top-seeded Hill-Murray in the section quarterfinals on Thursday.

Girls basketball
Lakeville South 66 / Northfield 50: Lakeville South turned a five-point halftime deficit into a comfortable victory, outscoring Northfield by 21 points in the second half to win.

Ally Schultz scored 20 points to lead Lakeville South. Anna Goodman added 15. Lakeville South was the underdog entering the night as the sixth seed. Northfield was the third seed.

Lakeville South will play Rochester Mayo in the section semifinals.

Farmington 86 / New Prague 41: Farmington cruised past New Prague in the Section 1AAAA quarterfinals. The Tigers led by 40 at halftime and rested their starters in the second half.

Farmington’s Sophie Hart led all scorers with 18 points. Paige Kindseth and Peyton Blandin added 17 and 13 points, respectively, for the Tigers.

The No. 2 ranked team in the state will face Rochester John Marshall in the section semifinals.

Boys basketball
Johnson 55 / Humboldt 40: Aiden Mclafferty scored 17 points and Julian Hodges added 16 to lead Johnson over Humboldt. Johnson led by 17 points at halftime.

Johnson (9-3) finishes the season ranked third in the City Conference. Humboldt (6-6) finishes fourth.
